Christian Lynn: Driving Under the Influence

Christian Lynn, Volunteer State Community College’s head softball coach, has pled guilty to driving under the influence. Though still concerning, this is not the first DUI he has received.

According to Sumner County Court Records, Lynn’s first DUI offense occurred January 2, 2022, soon after which he was assigned a $2,500 release-on-recognizance (ROR) bond type. This means that he had to sign a formal agreement stating he would appear at all his court dates and made no formal agreement for paying money or property pledge, with the addition of later unsecured financial penalties if the defendant fails to show. On June 7, 2022, Lynn was charged as guilty.

Back on May 13, 2026, Christian Lynn crashed into a tree while driving under the influence on Kennesaw Boulevard in Gallatin. Officers on the scene had observed an odor of intoxicants, and Lynn was slurring his words, which led to officers asking him to do a field sobriety test. He consented and failed in the field, prompting officers to ask him for a blood alcohol test. After Lynn agreed to this, his blood-alcohol content came back as 0.141, which is almost double Tennessee’s legal limit of 0.08.

Lynn pled guilty on August 18, 2026, and was then booked on September 4, 2026. He was sentenced to eleven months and twenty-nine days.

Volunteer State Community College was contacted by The Pioneer Press for a statement, though no comment has been given as of October 22. Lynn was originally taken off employee listings but now appears to be on administrative leave and is still listed as the head softball coach. Since the recent incident, new hire Cydnee Schneider has been listed as assistant coach on the softball team’s coaches page despite Lynn’s conviction. Along with this, Lynn had a personal website with Vol State logos on it, though it now no longer functions.

As it stands, this story has grounds to be updated in accordance with future statements from Vol State and the alteration of the softball team’s coaching information.
